How does it work?
Attendant looks at the stream of events flowing through your system and by checking only a small set of
standard features determines if any of the passing events require further Attention. This further Attention
could be in the form of an alert to a managers console, passing the message to another system for more
detailed processing, simply logging or any other further processing option, all in real time.
To draw a human analogy, imagine you are standing on a bridge over a stream watching for passing fish.
If you tried to scan, left to right, and check every detail of every cubic meter of water you would have to
constantly stop the flow of water in order to have time to do this. However we, as humans, have more
adaptive and flexible approaches. We simply scan the passing stream only looking for those changes
that we determine are important (in looking for fish) such as a change in color of a part of the stream
of a ripple. This way we direct our attention to only those parts of the passing stream that we determine
to require further processing or a closer look. This is the same way that Attendant works.
